In line with the Nigeria Customs Act 2023 and other extant provisions, officers are readily redeployed or reassigned to new responsibilities or to higher ones in other that the mandates of the Service can be better achieved.
It is in line with this principle that Comptroller Mohammed Sani Yusuf of the Murtala Mohammed Airport Command of the Nigeria Customs Service this morning handed over the mantle of leadership to the new Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Michael Toyin Awe.
Comptroller Yusuf left and Comptroller Awe right.
The outgoing CAC Yusuf in his hand over speech spoke about his experience at the Command over the past one year and three months of his helsmanship at the Command. He noted that “I want to introduce the new Customs Area Controller of the Command to you all having served my one year and three months here. At resumption here, the daily revenue target was two hundred and twenty five million naira (₦225,000,000.00), but shortly after, the target was increased to four hundred million naira (₦400,000,000.00). To the glory of God, we were able to make 90.2% of the target amount”.
Comptroller Yusuf left handing over the ceremonial flag to Comptroller Awe right.
He added “We were able to manage the crisis because we were operating an open door policy which greatly helped in terms of stakeholders engagement and revenue generation. We made a total of Ninety Billion Naira as revenue last year against the Sixty Eight Billion of the previous year”.
Comptroller Yusuf also urged the officers to rededicate themselves to duty and give full support to the new CAC Awe as he also advises CAC Awe to have a listening ear and to operate an open door policy in order to succeed at his new position.
