The English Oxford advanced dictionary defines recognition as acknowledgement of the existence, validity, or legality of something and these are the exact same views that have been put on the person and the efforts of Comptroller Dera Anselm Nnadi of the Tin Can Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service by the president of the Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics Of Nigeria (APFFLON), Otunba Frank Ogunojemite.
APFFLON through their president is recognising the various acts of professionalism as displayed by Comptroller Nnadi especially as they relate to the core mandates of the Nigeria Customs Service which are the protection of the national economy, facilitation of trade and revenue generation.
Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, the APFFLON president.
Otunba Ogunojemite while speaking with press men at the national headquarters of APFFLON said that the most recent act of stopping the illegally imported 684 packets of Cannabis Indica (Colorado), weighing 341.025kg and with a street value of N682,050,000. 00 was an act that has saved thousands of potential users from joining the ranks of citizens with drug abuse issues.
Otunba Ogunojemite’s words “The potential damage that these packets of imported hard drugs on public health cannot be overestimated as these drugs cause health, social and economic damage to citizens and ultimately the nation. It has been determined that hard drugs fuel violence and exacerbate social dislocations that lead to war situations and these are all what Nigeria as a nation is suffering right now”.
The APFFLON president also referred to the various seizures of other drugs, illegal medicaments and different grades of military type weapons and equipment by the officers and men of the Tin Can Island Port Command of the NCS which drew the attention and presence of the Comptroller-General of Customs during press briefings.
He heaps accolades on Comptroller Nnadi for “His intelligence, sagacity and all round great relationships with stakeholders and these have marked Comptroller Nnadi as a man of great capability and performance”.
The ardent advocate for professional propriety in all activities along the logistics supply chain further encourages Comptroller Nnadi to continue to give his best as he noted the age long saying that “The reward for good work is more work”.
He also used the opportunity to appeal to all other government agencies to emulate Nigeria Customs Service by providing trainings and establishing good relationships with freight forwarders.
He noted that freight forwarders are professionals who will always want to carry out their legitimate duties in free and safe environments in order to bring out their best to generate the needed revenue for government and also for their daily bread.
