The executive team of the Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON) has announced the acquisition of a parcel of land which has been approved by the authorities of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

The land is a 564 meter square plot, located along the Airport expressway. The national president of the association, Otunba Frank Ogunojemite in a general meeting with his executive members and those of the various chapters happily announced this as he chided the members of the executive of the chapters to emulate the good work of the Airport chapter chairman, Pastor Victor Shotayo and his team.

The president also used the occasion to congratulate the newly sworn in president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and in a press release obtained later, Otunba Ogunojemite described Tinubu as a visionary leader who understands governance and knows how to manage diversity.

In his words,” The Government should give priority attention to the key sectors, health, agriculture, housing, education and power, I urge the President to encourage local manufacturers by create enabling environment for entrepreneurs to thrive; it is time to promote export so as to check the continuous appreciation of the Dollar against the Naira. Our desire is to see Nigeria take its pride of place in the comity of prosperous Nations.”

Continuing, Ogunojemite charged the new administration to come up with a blueprint that would strengthen the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA) which is yet to take off fully due to obvious bottlenecks which one of them is insecurity.

The head of the advocacy group states that “APFFLON would want the new administration to review and amend the Council for Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria -CRFFN ACT for clarity and to align with international best practices, the CRFFN Reform should reconstitute the Governing Board to include only 10 percent of non Professionals who got involved by political appointment, and since it has been proven that they have nothing to offer the Council and only attend meetings whenever it is convenient for them”.

He suggests that the CRFFN board should be made up of core practitioners who would have the interest of practitioners at heart.

” While we congratulate the new President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Ahmed Bola Tinubu,GCFR, we also want to express our disappointment with the past administration for not finding any Freight Forwarder worthy of National Honour. While Nigerians and Foreigners from different walks of life had at one time or the other been honoured with National Awards of various category, no Freight Forwarder has been considered for National Honour despite their enormous contributions to the National economy, l urge the new administration not to tow the path of its predecessors but distinguish itself in policies and decision making”.

At the meeting, Otunba Ogunojemite said that the ground breaking ceremony at the new Airport chapter site would be performed by next week as he added that the South African chapter of the association would soon be operational. He noted that APFFLON is presently the only freight forwarding association that is up to date with its registeration according to the rules guiding the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

The president also used the occasion to enunciate some projects that are in the pipeline, he said that the new chapter building at the Airport would have a training facility and that there will be collaborative efforts to engage some foreign agencies. He also added that there would be an inauguration of new chapters by the 30th of June as he urged all that APFFLON must be improved with ideas, influence and great efforts.
