IAIIEA CONFERENCE: A LOOK INTO FUTURE.

The International Association for Innovations In Education Assessment (IAIIEA) has kicked off its 6th annual conference with the theme “Digitalised Educational Assessment For Entrepreneurial Productivity”. The four day conference which started Monday is holding at the main hall of the Anchor University at Ayobo, Lagos. The conference had a lot of prominent persons in both physical and online attendance.

The Anchor University VC, Prof. Samuel Oye Bamidele making his remarks, by his side and sitting is Akinola Mosobalaje of the ICT University, USA, Doc. Akinyele Ariyo, president of IAIIEA and Adelekan Adeleye, representative of Honourable Mojisola Meranda.

The deputy speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Mojisola Meranda was represented at the event by Mr. Adelekan Adeleye. The president of the IAIIEA, Dr. Akinyele Ariyo in his opening remarks said that “in addition to this particular conference, the association holds teachers conferences every three months since the start of this year and this year’s conference which is also being broadcast virtually is providing opportunities to unlearn, learn and relearn as appropriate”.

The vice chancellor of the Anchor University Professor Samuel Oye Bamidele while making his remark at the conference said that there is need for innovations in educational assessment and tbat this has made the activities of the association very relevant as change is the only constant thing. He added that we should seek to develope scales that can determine the level of one’s understanding of what has been taught other that through traditional questions and answers method. Professor Bamidele supports creativity and innovation in carrying out educational assessment in this age of artificial intelligence.

Mr. Adelekan Adeleye, a representative of Honourable Mojisola Meranda is his remark said that as an education enthusiast, she shares the ideals of the Association and encourages them to stay focused on all their objectives of constantly reviewing the quality of educational assessment.

The lead speaker at the conference is the young representative of the ICT University, USA in Nigeria, Mr. Akinola Opeyemi Mosobalaje who lectured on the ecclectic views on education assessment and the role of artificial intelligence on the future of teaching and learning, he advised that we key into the trend in those critical areas that will make us more competitive in education in order not to be left behind as a people.

There were a lot of remarks by guests at the occasion as well as a presentation by Mohammed Abdulatif and online presentations by eminent educational personalities like Professor Zarko Wukmirovic, and others.

The lead speaker at the event, Akinola Mosobalaje who is a learning engineer and an ICT expert said in an interview that “we are here to talk about the integration of digital tools for educational assessment which is a core part of what should be done concerning assessment at every point in time. We talked about emerging technologies and their effects in education and if we are talking about technologies, we are also talking about artificial intelligence and the effect new technologies are having in disrupting traditional ways of approaching matters”.

Mr. Mosobalaje advised that government should embrace policies that will advance our education and that teachers should also embrace technologies to make us effective and more productive.

The 4-day event continues up to the 20th of October with various activities at the venue.
