Phase is a distinct period or stage in a series of events or a process of change or development. We all, as humans go through various phases in our lives-being born, schooling, working, family and retirement.

It is in realisation of this that a renowned barrister at law and a very big personality in the affairs of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) is calling it quits and retiring after very many active years as an attorney.

Barrister Fred Akhokia has been a lawyer of great repute, his contributions to the growth  of NAGAFF cannot be overestimated. He has served as the Deputy National President, Headquarers, National Legal Adviser, Legal Consultant/ Member of the Board Of Trustees, Member of the NAGAFF’s Advisory Council, lead Counsel and Consultant  to the legal team that saw to the establishment of the Council For the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), member of NAGAFF’s Elders Council, head of the Councils arbitration & conflict resolution team & so many other strategic positions  that he held in NAGAFF and her Political wing, the  New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Barrister, as he is fondly called, has a burning desire of achieving  success in whatever he does, little wonder why he has been able to impact positively on freight forwarders. As a lecturer at the NAGAFF Academy, he was unrivalled. His quest for knowledge  is simply unqualified.

Members of the association gathered at their Headquarers on Wednesday, the 31st of July to bid him farewell from the association and to celebrate the life of a cerebral man, a goal getter, an enigma, a father of all and above all, a perfect gentleman.

The founder of NAGAFF, Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam said of Mr. Akhokia “Barrister Akhokia is quite a resourceful person and I as a person like him. He may be sometimes controversial, but do not forget that he is a lawyer who must take position on issues whether popular or not”.

The president of NAGAFF, in his speech at the event said of the retiring lawyer “The entire NAGAFF family wishes him well and as the President of NAGAFF, I will personally miss his wise counsel and sense of humour.  I wish him well in retirement and pray that God will grant him longevity in good health of the mind and the body”.
