At the brief ceremony which occurred at the new auditorium of the Command, the outgoing Comptroller Jaiyeoba took out time to detail some of the achievements of the Command within the last eight months of his stewardship.

After the niceties of protocol and kind words to various persons and entities, Comptroller Jaiyeoba noted ” My tour of duty as Area Controller of Apapa Command ends after 8 months, it gives me great joy to recall the very suspense filled and exciting moments of goals achieved day by day, week by week and month by month culminating into tangible results for the benefit of our great country and her economy”.

His words “While promoting a robust customs community relation system where there will be regular interface with all government and private sector stakeholders, I shall upscale our enforcement with intelligence to ensure that only legitimate trade is allowed in Apapa Port and all the terminals within the command”.

“Our tolerance level for smuggling of prohibited items, concealment, and declaration for duty evasion shall be zero and shall remain so”.

There were a lot of remarks from freight forwarders, journalists as well as from the Deputy Comptroller administration of the Command bordering more on accolades for the outgoing Comptroller. There was also some good advice for the incoming CAC about emulating all the good attributes of Comptroller Jaiyeoba as well as seeking to operate conciliatory, open door and empathetic policies that will enable him to do even better than his predecessor at the Command.
