Prophet Godwin Ikuru, a prominent Nigerian religious leader, has urged the Inspector General of Police and the Department of State Services (DSS) to take proactive measures in preventing an impending protest. He emphasised the importance of these security agencies fulfilling their duties to maintain peace and order in the country.

Addressing the potential risks associated with the protest, Prophet Ikuru highlighted that Nigeria’s economic situation is unique and cannot be compared to that of Kenya or other African nations. He warned against any disruptions to the economy due to a protest driven by hunger, suggesting that such actions could lead to broader instability.

Prophet Ikuru called on the protest organisers to seek dialogue as an alternative to street demonstrations. He expressed concerns that allowing protests could lead to violence, noting the potential for hoodlums to exploit the situation. “We must avoid any bloodshed during these events,” he stated, “to prevent the tragic loss of innocent lives.”

In his message, Prophet Ikuru stressed the responsibility of the security agencies to intensify their efforts in ensuring public safety. He called for heightened vigilance and preparedness to manage the situation effectively, urging that all necessary measures be taken to prevent the protest from escalating into chaos.

The Prophet’s call for dialogue and peace underscores the need for a balanced approach in addressing public grievances, advocating for communication and understanding between the government and the citizens to avoid unnecessary conflict. “Let President Bola Ahmed Tinubu do his work, I’m sure he will find lasting solution to the current economy challenges, he said.
